WARNER BROS. GAMES LAUNCHES MULTIVERSUS

**Burbank, Calif. – May 28, 2024 – Warner Bros. Games announced today the official launch of MultiVersus, a free-to-play platform fighter video game, now available on PlayStation®5 (PS5™), PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) with full cross-play and cross-progression support.**

Developed by Player First Games with support from Warner Bros. Games San Diego, MultiVersus features a continually expanding roster of popular characters from Warner Bros. Discovery franchises. Starting today, Season 1: Puns & Villainy introduces new fighters including DC Super-Villain The Joker, Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise, Banana Guard from Adventure Time, and later in the season, Agent Smith from The Matrix series.

MultiVersus launches with a new PvE mode called Rifts, offering unexpected twists and a different gameplay experience outside of competitive PvP matches. Players can also battle in various reimagined environments, including new maps inspired by Dexter’s Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls.

“With the official launch of MultiVersus, we're providing players with a free-to-play experience featuring an impressive lineup of iconic Warner Bros. Discovery characters,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Games. “Our goal is to make the game enjoyable and accessible for both casual and competitive players, with continuous improvements and new gameplay elements.”

Tony Huynh, Co-Founder and Game Director at Player First Games, added, “We’re thrilled to officially launch MultiVersus, a dream project for our team. Each character is crafted with care, from their appearance to their unique move set and combat mechanics. With the addition of the PvE mode Rifts, we offer more ways to play, complemented by our custom rollback netcode for a seamless online experience.”

The Joker, Jason Voorhees, Banana Guard, and Agent Smith join a diverse roster including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and Black Adam; Shaggy and Velma (Scooby-Doo); Bugs Bunny, Tasmanian Devil (Taz), and Marvin the Martian (Looney Tunes); Arya Stark (Game of Thrones); Tom & Jerry; Finn the Human and Jake the Dog (Adventure Time); Steven Universe and Garnet; Iron Giant; LeBron James (Space Jam: A New Legacy); Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith; Gizmo and Stripe (Gremlins); and the original character Reindog, with more fighters to be added in future updates.

MultiVersus offers various modes for online and local play. The new Rifts mode includes PvE experiences with boss fights, mini-games, and unique rewards, allowing players to learn mechanics, test characters, and hone their skills solo or cooperatively. Additional modes include 2 vs. 2 team-based, 1 vs. 1 matches, 4-player free-for-all, co-op vs. A.I., custom online lobbies, practice mode (The Lab), tutorials, and local matches for up to four players.

Maps like Dexter’s Laboratory and the City of Townsville, featuring The Powerpuff Girls' villain Mojo Jojo, join existing locales such as the Batcave, Tree Fort, Scooby’s Haunted Mansion, and Sky Arena.

In MultiVersus, each fighter is equipped with in-depth combat mechanics, enhanced visuals, and lighting to bring the characters closer to the action. The game’s custom rollback netcode supports online play and matchmaking.

Top voice talent brings the characters to life, including Mark Hamill as The Joker, Kevin Conroy as Batman, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, George Newbern as Superman, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Estelle as Garnet, and many more.
